Recently
we performed the first whole-genome based supertree analysis (currently
under review) to determine the phylogenetic relationship of 42 fungal
species. This work was undertaken in collaboration with Jason Stajich.
The figure belows shows an average consensus supertree derived from
4,805 fungal gene families. Bootstrap scores for all nodes are
displayed. Rhizopus oryzae
has been selected as an outgroup. The Basidiomycota and Ascomycota
phyla form distinct clades. Subphyla and class clades are highlighted.
Two clades of special interest to this analysis include the node that
contains the genomes that have undergone a genome duplication (WGD) and
the node that contains the organisms that translate CTG as serine
instead of leucine. If you require more information regarding our
phylogenomic analysis please cotact me.
